Tri-Diocesan Covenant - Companions on a Journey

“Companions on a deep journey” was how Bishop Stuart described the relationship between the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle, the Diocese of Broken Bay and the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle at the Tri-Diocesan Covenant Renewal liturgy on Tuesday 23 May at St Luke's Anglican Church, Wallsend.

Bishop Bill Wright, Bishop Peter Stuart and Fr Colin Blayney in lieu of Bishop Peter Comensoli led the liturgy with over 100 attendees, all who were urged to be a part of the bigger story and of the need to nurture the bond that our dioceses share.

The covenant was established in 2008 and is the thread that binds our churches together, ultimately to acknowledge that we are special to one another and to celebrate our common values and experiences. During his homily, Bishop Stuart touched on the importance of meeting and talking about the big and small issues and “gathering in age-old promises, remembering there are new and fresh things in our lives.
