St Benedict’s on a climb

Re-purposed classrooms, a creative learning space, extra climbing equipment, an extended playground area and four demountable classrooms are welcome additions to St Benedict’s Primary School, Edgeworth.

The design and installation are targeted at meeting the future needs of increasing student and staff numbers and St Benedict’s is mightily impressed with the improvements to its educational facilities.

Kindergarten classrooms have been re-designed with interconnecting sliding doors to enable greater collaboration and access to a breakout outdoor learning space.

The installation of four demountables will provide extra and valuable teaching and staff workspace once fitted out with inclusions including a covered deck and walkway and tiered seating area. It will provide the school’s learning support team and music teacher with a designated work pace. In 2021, both the school’s Year 5 classes will be housed in two of the demountables.

A newly installed rope pyramid for the use of infants children only and the extension of the playground usually used by Stage 3 students will balance some play space lost by the installation of the demountables. The school’s fitness equipment has been removed to facilitate the playground extension and will be stored and re-installed in a different configuration and place.

An aerial shot will be taken when the work is completed to show a new and very different-looking St Benedict’s.
