Kindergarten offers SALID to family members

Kindergarten students at St Francis Xavier’s Primary School, Belmont, gave their family members a taste of what they’ve been up to this term during their Stop and Look in Day (SALID).

Inviting family members or another child from the school to their classroom, the Kindergarten students spent the afternoon guiding their invited guest through all they have been learning so far in various Key Learning Areas.

With a checklist of activities in hand, students guided their visitors around their classroom, Breakout Room and outside activity space.

There were plenty of activities available for students to showcase including explaining science experiments, demonstrating their computer skills, showing them how to solve maths problems, talking about displays hanging around the classroom and reading some of their favourite books from class.

Previously running class assemblies, St Francis Xavier’s wanted to give families a chance to get a better look at what happens inside the classroom and showcase the educational journey of their child.

Running the SALIDs since 2015, the school’s had a great response. The days will run every Friday afternoon until week 10, with a different year group having the chance to showcase the classroom and student skills each week.
