An artistic end to Catholic Schools Week 2018

Students from St James' Primary School, Kotara South and St Pius X High School, Adamstown, joined parishioners from St Philip's Church to close Catholic Schools Week 2018 with the annual Blackbutt South Parish Art competition and Mass on Saturday night.

Now in its third year, the event features shortlisted artworks completed by Year 8 Religious Studies students from St Pius X High School, Adamstown, for their Term 1 assessment task. The theme for this year’s creations was, 'What does the story of Easter mean to Catholics today?’

The art show highlights the partnership between the school and the Blackbutt South parish and the valued relationships with Father Terry Horne and Parish Family Liaison Officer, Helene O’Neill. The event was initiated by Lachlan Byrnes, an ex-student of St Pius X who is currently in Year 12.

Judged by Ms Felicity Doyle, three outstanding achievements were awarded and over seventy artworks on display.

The displayed artworks will now go ‘on tour’ around the All Saints churches.
