The cast of 80 students ranging from Years 7 to 11 sang, danced and acted their hearts out as they shared the popular story.

It centres around basketball player, Troy Bolton (played by Riley Warner) and academically gifted student, Gabriella Montez (played by Macey Collins) as they overcome peer pressure and jealousy to follow their dreams of performing in the school musical.

Support came from Ellie Tilse and Lachlan Lockhart as the hilarious, fame hungry twins Sharpay and Ryan Evans. But this production was truly about the ensemble as we watched the stage come alive with vibrant choreography and powerful vocals. It was wonderful to see students so engaged in telling the story, which is what performance is all about.

This truly was a production that encompassed all student talents, including an amazing set constructed by students in Year 11 and 12 and a band comprised of both staff and young musicians.

The lighting and sound operation was also largely controlled by students ensuring opportunity for those students with an interest in production.

The creative team of Telaine Kelly, Bronwen Smith and Meagan O’Brien have provided their students with an experience they will cherish as well and should be applauded for their dedication along with the many other staff members and parents who assisted in bringing this musical together.

A massive congratulations to all those involved on an entertaining and energetic performance. I for one cannot wait until the next production!
