St Francis Xavier gather to celebrate Christmas

On Friday 16th December, our school and parish community of St. Francis Xavier’s Belmont, came together to relive the Christmas story and celebrate the Christmas season.

Every child in the school was involved and every aspect of the Christmas story was represented, as the children sang and danced. A group of Year 6 students set the tone, beginning with music which recalled the anticipation and longing we feel during the waiting time of Advent. “It was great fun to have a special part to play because this is the last time we get to do something like this before we go to high school” said Mya, Alayna, Kenya and Jenaya.

The mood then shifted as the music changed, to depict the awe and wonder we experience at the birth of Jesus. Finally, the whole school – students and teachers - assembled on stage, filling the Parish Hall with music and singing as we felt the absolute joy that the realisation of a Saviour into our world brings to us all.

We gathered together, sang and danced together, shared food and laughter together as we celebrated. It was a very moving and heart-warming way to end the year. “This is my first year at the school and I am really grateful to all the teachers for the chance to be involved in something special like this” said Kaleb from Year 6.

SFX School community wish for everyone, the same joy and love that we experienced together today. Merry Christmas!
