Diocesan student wins Young Person of the Year Award

On Saturday 5 November, the Myall Lakes Electorate 2016 Community Awards were presented at Club Taree. 

The awards encompassed seven categories: Local Grandparent, Junior Sports Person, Senior Sports Person, Young Person, Senior Person, Community Group and Citizen of the Year.

In front of 300 people, St Clare’s High School, Taree, School Captain, Thomas Dormor, was announced winner of the Young Person of the Year Award by Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead.

Tom was nominated by St Clare’s Principal, Peter Nicholls, on the basis of his extensive leadership, academic, musical and community achievements in Forster, his hometown, in Taree and within St Clare’s.

“Tom is focused and has the ability to really drive a team,” said St Clare’s Year 12 student co-ordinator, Bronwyn Davidson.

“As an active community member on the Young Lions, Tom is an all-round great student and talented musician. The St Clare’s community is very proud of Tom.”

We congratulate Tom on this recognition of the significant influence he has had in our region.
