GALLERY: Families celebrated at St Kevin’s Grandparent’s Day

It was all about families last Thursday, 15 September at the St Kevin’s Cardiff Grandparent’s Day.

The day which included a luncheon and Liturgy acknowledged the work and contribution of the school community’s grandparents, many of who are very active in the school.

“We have grandparents working in the canteen, assisting with reading groups in the classroom and raising their grandchildren,” said principal Mary-anne Jennings.

“We needed to say thank you to these amazing people.”

The special visitors left the day well-fed after a delicious luncheon of homemade soup and bread rolls and afternoon tea of home baked treats.

Students and grandparents then gathered for a reading crawl that saw children go from grandparent to grandparent and listen to different stories being read, and visited school classrooms, showcasing the school’s new rooms and technology. The day concluded with a liturgy that saw everyone gather as a Catholic community and give thanks for the gift of grandparents.

“A special thank you to staff who worked tirelessly and organised the whole day,” thanked Ms Jennings.

St Kevin’s looks forward to many happy years ahead.
