600 teachers gather for Re-framing Learning Conference

The inaugural Teaching and Learning Conference for Catholic schools, hosted by CSO Teaching & Learning Services, was held yesterday, 18 July, at the University of Newcastle.

Over 600 teachers from 36 of our primary schools and 6 of our secondary schools participated in the event which focused on looking at learning in different ways, and in providing rich and exciting experiences for our students.

The Conference theme, Re-framing Learning, captured the imagination of keynote speaker, Professor John Fischetti, Dean of the Faculty of Education, who opened the Conference with a focus on how schools are responding to their students today.

"The key to success for all is teaching for all and leading change for all," said Professor Fischetti.

"An open world begins with an open mind."

Participants were able to choose from over 25 workshops during the day including gifted education, leading change for learning, contemporary learning, STEM, early learning, and student well being, with more than half of these workshops presented by staff from our schools.

It was a terrific way to begin a new school term!
