St Joseph’s hosts inaugural ‘Wellness Fair’

To coincide with Mental Health Month (October), St Joseph’s Primary School East Maitland last Wednesday hosted a ‘Wellness Fair’ to promote the importance of wellbeing and to raise awareness of the services available locally to support parents and families in the area.

The Wellness Fair saw more than 13 local organisations set up a stall at the school which offered parents and visitors everything from hand massages, counselling advice and healthy eating samples.

The Wellness Fair was just one of a number of events hosted by the school during October to promote wellbeing and follows the launch of ‘KidsMatter’ which took place at the school earlier in the year.

‘Kidsmatter’ provides the school with a framework to best meet the needs of students and the wider community through promoting positive wellbeing. KidsMatter, amongst other things, also helps the school take care of children's mental health needs by creating positive school and early childhood communities and aims to teach children skills for good social and emotional development.
