St Dominic’s Day in Maitland

Once again, as in August every year, St Mary’s, Maitland, celebrated St Dominic’s Feast Day.

Following the liturgy where we watched St Dominic being crowned by our school leaders, the school community – staff, students and visiting Dominican sisters - adjourned together to the school café and sports’ fields where we continued to celebrate our tradition as a community.

The Hospitality students spoiled the staff and Sisters with a light luncheon, leaving ample opportunity for the staff to then line up with the students for fresh paella and Mr Whippy ice creams (ahh, the memories!) with chocolates and drinks also available in support of our CASP students (Cambodia Alternative Schoolies Program) and our waistlines!

With the weather perfect and a captive audience relaxing, the karaoke machine began with students initially monopolizing but with the staff eventually adding some class to the musical event. I mean, really……. who needs ‘The Voice’?

With prayer, food, entertainment and community spirit St Dominic’s Day was celebrated in style!
