Morisset raises funds for the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal

There was a sea of beanies at St John Vianney Primary School, Morisset on Wednesday 17 June as students did their bit to raise money for the local  St Vincent de Paul’s Winter Appeal.

The school’s 2015 Mini Vinnies Committee organised a “Beanies for Blankets Day”. Students were asked to come to school in a beanie of their choice and bring a gold coin donation.

Leading up to the successful day was an appeal for families to donate blankets in good condition. The response to this request was incredible, as you can see in the photos below. Some families were crocheting colourful new blankets right up until the day.

Teacher and Mini Vinnies Coordinator, Catherine Mudford, said that she was really pleased with the results. “As a school over $200 was raised and the children really supported the idea. All funds raised will be used to buy more blankets to contribute our schools blanket donation,” she said.

Certainly, many students enjoyed keeping their heads warm on the day.
