Clare Webber from St Joseph’s Primary School Merewether recently returned from Darwin where she represented NSW at The School Sport Australia National Girls Cricket Carnival. The NSW Team was made up of girls from other locations including Sydney, Wollongong, Armidale, Tamworth and Orange.

Clare had progressed through school, regional and diocesan trials to play for Polding before being chosen for NSW. The NSW team played the ACT, South Australia, Queensland and Victoria on its way to winning the Australian championship after 5 days of competition. At a school assembly Clare acknowledged her family for its continual support to allow her to reach such a high level of representative sport. She thanked St Joseph's Principal Mr Doyle and the families of St Joseph’s Merewether for donations, encouragement and help as she reached each level of competition in the Catholic primary school sporting structure.

Former student Rory Walker followed a similar pathway to win gold with the NSW Team at the Boys Hockey National Championships while at St Joseph’s Primary School.
