Once again it is Sunday evening and I have returned home from Mass at the Cathedral where we prayed the prayers of the Perpetual Day of Remembrance. I hope these prayers were prayed in every Mass across the Diocese over the weekend. If you missed them please go to The Office of Safeguarding website, where you will find a very short but powerful YouTube video, along with the resources that were produced for this day, September 15. The theme chosen for this year’s Perpetual Day of Remembrance was Shine the Light of Christ, with the strong message of, 'together, we can shine the light of Christ, a light of solidarity and hope.'

I write this message on Father’s Day, after having spent the weekend on the Gold Coast celebrating our second daughter’s 40th birthday with family and her friends. It was also wonderful to celebrate Father’s Day surrounded by our children, their spouses and grandchildren.

The title for the evening was, 'Is there Anti-Religious sentiment in Australia?'

I don’t know about you but so much can happen in a week and this past week has been no different. On this Sunday night of writing this week’s message, Allen and I have just arrived home from Canberra where we visited our son, his wife and our grandson for the weekend. It was a chilly but homely weekend, where we enjoyed the comforts of their new home and just hanging out with each other.
